A Mayor on a Mission
Then Mayor of Prague, Kenneth Kuncl, regularly wrote to the staff of The Guinness Book of World Records.
The Quest for Recognition
While the first kolach wasn’t accepted due its classification as ethnic food, Kuncl was still determined to get the hardworking Czechs recognition in The Guinness Book of World Records.
Without other records to compare to, the Village of Prague made their own with their second kolach. To this day, Prague, Nebraska holds the title for a traditional kolach and though the pastry has long been eaten, the pride and pan remain.
